Outdoor Furniture - Handcrafted Cedar Furniture

Our outdoor furniture is all handcrafted from clear Western Red Cedar. The wood parts are all sanded to a fine finish that's smooth to the touch, because all outdoor furniture should be comfortable to the touch. Each part features a routed 1/4" round over to take the sharpness off of the edges for a pleasing, smooth feel. All parts are pre-drilled for snug assembly, and the hardware used is Zinc plated to be rust resistant. Cedar, of course, is well known for its weather resistant properties. As a result, the outdoor furniture products listed here will provide many years of enjoyment.

How To Finish Cedar Outdoor Furniture:

With most woods used for outdoor building projects, great care and attention need to be given to the finish of the wood in order to ensure that the object will last for many years of enduring the elements. Moisture and sun exposure alike can cause damage to outdoor furniture. That is why we offer outdoor furniture made of Western Red Cedar; because even left unfinished, many years of enjoyment can be achieved. Left unfinished, the wood will gracefully turn to a silvery hue, and the wood grain will raise and roughen. However, dark streaks can result from reactions between the Cedar Resin and the Zinc hardware. A wood sealer such as Thompson's Wood Sealer can prevent the hardware from causing streaks and will keep the wood smooth while still allowing the wood to achieve its silver luster. Or, any wood stain can be applied every few years to add a tint to the wood while bringing out its different tones. Sikkens Cetol 1 is an excellent choice for any outdoor project since it includes ultra violet inhibitors to prevent the sun from fading the wood. Paint will work but will need more maintenance, as any paint applied outdoors will eventually need to be scraped and refinished. Wood oils are not recommended for patio furniture as it is difficult to achieve a perfect finish without having airborn particles stick to the oil finish.
